Dragged Across Concrete – I've been waiting for a release on this movie for a bit since watching S. Craig Zahler's previous films, Bone Tomahawk and Brawl in Cell Block 99. His stories are simple, but executed with such vibrancy and aggressiveness. His actions scenes always add that extra “umpf” - for example: Jennifer Carpenter's character is obviously suffering from postpartum depression, and the last thing she asks her husband before returning to work after a first failed attempt that same day, is to touch her child one more time. Carpenter's character goes back to work at a bank, only to get robbed moments after entering the building. She reaches for something only to get her hands shot to shit. HER FUCKING FINGERS ARE SHOT TO SHIT. And of course, her last thoughts are of her baby. Damn. But as the title of this film may suggest, it is a slow burn. It also plays like an adapted screenplay of a novel, where extra little details that were in the book are cut out in the film, but instead, this film leaves EVERYTHING in it. It may be a tough watch for some due to length, but it's well worth it at the end. Aftermath – Edward Furlong is in this movie. OF COURSE I'M WATCHING IT. The Silence – Stanley Tucci was great in this film, but it wasn't enough to help the movie escape the “Netflix Original” label of generic flicks and storytelling. Aladdin – The film was a little too cookie cutter for my taste despite having Will Smith as the Genie and Guy Ritchie directing. The new songs aren't really memorable, and not too many new changes to the new songs for me to care. I didn't go into the film hoping for a nostalgia, but rather a fresh new take on the original Aladdin. Not enough for me to care, but if you've never seen the original film, this might work for you. Bright Burn – A Super Villain version of the Superman lore. If this kid is really pure evil, any sequels would have to us into the dark side. I mean DARK. But if you want an ending, I'd imagine it'd turn out something like Session Twenty of Cowboy Bebop – just watch that. The Highwaymen – Who knew Woody Harrleson and Kevin Costner would make such a great on-screen duo? Well, you pair anyone with Harrelson or Costner, you're going to have a great movie. It was like watching The Untouchables meets Gangster Squad, a dark gangster flick with a good story and action to boot. If there is a template for a great Netflix Original, this would be it. The Head Hunter – Artsy horror flick, Vikings meets Evil Dead, worthy of several views.
ALL THE QUEEN'S HORSES - An interesting documentary, on Netflix, of all places, about a woman who ripped off millions from her small town for like 20 years and spent it on lavish living and fucking...HORSES. Yup. You can't make that shit up, without being laughed at, as that is the worst villain ever. WELCOME TO MARWEN - What a disappointing piece of crap by the guy who brought you FOREST GUMP and BACK TO THE FUTURE. The film lacks nuance and subtlety, constantly beating you over the head and kicking you in the face with awesome "dream sequence-y" animation in hopes of distracting you from the fact that this is barely a movie; there is not enough story to merit a short, let alone a feature. I like the premise, and I like how they try to allow the viewers to experience PTSD, which are basically the only good things about the film. But, it ultimately fails to deliver on the story's premise, or to get you on the side of the Protagonist; they go out of their way to "TELL" you why he is NOT weird, and how wearing heels, as a man, and collecting women's shoes is totally NORMAL, but what they "SHOW" you is completely contrary: Dude, is WEIRD as fuck. He behaves creepily, he makes fucking dolls of his female neighbors and creates these narratives casting them as his saviors and love interests in a way that feels completely subjugating for the females on any level beyond the surface. MARWEN is literally a world populated by women who exist to protect his fragile male ego (and also attack it, as the villain is a woman, based on his ex-wife or some shit, who is a sloppy, on-the-nose metaphor for his pill addiction lol) and then the movie has the balls to say that "Women make the world go 'round", or some such obligatory, wannabe-woke drivel, all the while showing you that a woman's "true value" stems from the role she plays in a man's life, and his imaginary, narrative landscapes. On the whole, this is a thirsty-ass movie by a once-awesome director who is losing touch with his audience, and doesn't quite understand female empowerment or systemic misogyny, but wants desperately to remain relevant. FUCK YOU, MOVIE, for making me, of all people, play the feminist card. MARY, QUEEN OF SCOTS - Looked dope; Lady Bird and I, Tonya are dope actors, but this film goes out of its way to be boring, and remind you that women are powerful, and were in charge of men and countries and blah, blah, blah, without bothering to show you shit. Who did this film think its audience was? The trailer was clear, two powerful woman, with the fate of their countries and crowns at stake, try to avoid all out war by trying to find a middle-ground that their male counterparts would probably not be able to achieve because men are warmongers and idiots. But, guess what, these women are just as petty, stubborn, and stupid as any man in power ever. Thanks for showing us powerful women. Or, rather, TELLING us they are powerful. THE SIXTH SENSE - Oh god, like everyone else, I loved this movie. And you know what? I still do. Breaks from its own internal logic aside, and GENERAL LOGIC, the movie is still creepy and suspenseful as fuck, with powerhouse performances by all of the leads. I think Shymalan is an awesome director who understands tension and suspense and cinema as a whole, I think he just struggles with integrating logic and ego, but it doesn't negate his overall ability as a filmmaker. BUT...I still refuse to see GLASS. CREED II - Not bad. Not as good as the first, but I love what they did with Ivan Drago, and his son. Not sure I'd ever watch this film again, but I'm glad I decided to, I was on the fence because of the overly gimmicky premise (that appealed primarily to the 8 year old in me) and the lack of Ryan Coogler at the helm, but as far as dead-horse-beating goes, this is one of the better offerings. BLACK HAWK DOWN - Still love it. FREDDY VS. JASON - Still fucking love it. THE HEAD HUNTER - An achievement in horror cinema. The film lets itself, its character, and its premise exist without feeling the need to explain shit. The atmosphere is wonderfully bleak and tense and the lead (and basically ONLY character) chews up the scenery masterfully, allowing you into his obsession and ushering you into madness. This film is that perfect and rare crossroad where arthouse meets genre and succeeds. AVENGERS: ENDGAME - I liked it, overall. The time traveling wasn't as fun as it could've been, and was just a plot-point, which was disappointing because there is sooooo much for them to be able to draw from in terms of all of the MCU that we have invested in over the past decade or so. The climax was the strong point, and the resolution ALMOST fell into the RETURN OF THE KING trap, where the fucking story doesn't know it's fucking over and just WON'T END, but we are rewarded with a send off worthy of Chris Evans and Steve Rodgers, so a ballsy call that ultimately paid off. Captain Marvel, though? Ugh. However, I did like that scene with all the powerful heroines getting their superhero poses on, right before rushing the whatever the fuck to the equivalent of the "end zone". That was bad ass, and if Brie Larson would stop rubbing my fucking face in smug, forced, female empowerment, I could enjoy these actual moments that showcase empowered females better. But, y'know, #girlsruleboysdrool or whatever. ALSO... "I'm inevitable..." says Thanos, to which a moribund Tony Stark replies, "Yeah, and I'm...IRONMAN." before pulling the trigger on the gauntlet, assuring the salvation of the universe. Academy, you better get your shit together and nominate this film for SOMETHING. There are BLACKS, and GAYS, and WOMEN all over the place in it, so find SOMETHING to nominate, please. All the queen's horses

Kill! Kickboxer: Vengeance Punisher: War Zone Expendables 2 Timecop Prometheus Alien: Covenant A Quiet Place Alien/s Concesseionaires Must Die Avengers: Infinity War Cowboy Bebop: Sn1 The Titan | OnoTimecop – A Timeless effort by one of the leading action-cinematic stars of the last generation, JCVD. Prometheus – Wasn't the movie I hoped it would be, but with more views, I'm loving it more and more. It's beautifully shot, more of a scenic film than story, although, now I feel the story is a great set up for future prequels. Alien: Covenant – The more views on this, the more I love it. This film is basically the first to Alien movies, but with a much darker ending. A Quiet Place – Don't believe the hype, believe in me – this movie is dope. Alien – Ripley is adamant about policy. Aliens – Ripley writes policy with a pulse rifle. Concesseionaires Must Die – A nice indie flick full of pop-culture references, mostly on movies. It's like Empire Records but with a movie theater. |

Waitress - This is just all around fabulous from the writing, to the comedy, to the tears and the very end...small town girl makes good! The People vs. Larry Flynt - Proof that Woody Harrelson is one talented motherfucker. Abandon - terrible film with one of the best tunes from Jane's Addiction. TRAIN TO BUSAN : I was on the late train to view this film. However this K-Horror film is pretty damn good. Zombies on a train.. next stop more Zombies. RAID THE REDEMPTION : I have always enjoyed this film, the martial arts action scenes are top notch. And it only gets better in Raid : The Redemption 2 PRINCE OF DARKNESS : this film is a total trip from John Carpenter in all honesty it’s one of my favorites from the Horror Master. Liquid Evil, Alice Cooper Cameo, and who can forget about the “Bug Man” SCARECROWS 1988 : The first film to deal with Slasher Scarecrows. And it’s a pretty good 80s flim. FRIDAY THE 13TH PT.2 1981 : This is the film that actually has Jason’s first appearance as the Camp Crystal Lake Slasher, taking off where mother left off hunting all the teen counselors and anyone else in the path of his murderous rampage THE SHAPE OF WATER : Aside from being an award winning Horror film from Guillermo Del Torro. This film actually made me teary eyed near the ending of the film. If a film can bring some emotions out of me, I have nothing but love ️ for it DEATH WISH 4 : THE CRACKDOWN Charles Bronson is a total badass once again. This time taking on 2 mafia families and a drug syndicate. CYBORG: Jean Claude Van Damme is kicking mutant ass as consequence of his family being murdered. Classic Van Damme DEATH WISH 1974 : The film that started it all. |
Bad Santa Bad Santa 2 The House The Whole Nine Yards Snatch Insidious Rampage The Conjuring Insidious Everything Sucks Blair Witch (2016) GOTG Volume. 2 Andre The Giant Heat (1995) L. A. Confidential The Magnificent Seven (1960) Casino Royale (2006) San Andreas The Lazerus Effect | The LAZERUS EFFECT had a lot of potential but should have taken a left at Alburqurque, they fumbled it so bad it was like The Rams were still in St. Louis. Turns out I STILL don't like INSIDIOUS. No where near my favorite horror film THE CONJURING, though both are directed by James Wan and starring Patrick Wilson. I suggest everyone watch EVERYTHING SUCKS on Netflix and if you like it, tweet Netflix and let them know! Okay, I know this isn't a movie, but its only been out two months and Netflix canceled it. Which is a crime considering we have two more Bright movies coming |

I wish these were the two I ran to theaters to watch late last year. I loved them; maybe because they snuck up on me, IDK, but I was prepared to fall in love with THE SHAPE OF WATER, I didn't; I was prepared to be rocked by originality and quirk with LADY BIRD, I was not. I shared a much more emotional connection with Tonya and Vlad Tepes (or whatever his name is from DA) than I did with the charming mute girl and the under-achieving wannabe. This year's Oscars were not as blatantly PC as the year MOONLIGHT (???) won Best Picture, but there were still some SJW picks slathered with undeserved accolades. At least the acting Oscars were on point. Got the chance to talk with Indie filmmaker JED BRIAN, and see his awesome little-film-that-could, UNLISTED OWNER. I really liked it. If we're going to start giving awards away just because a film is "different" and difference should be rewarded, Unlisted Owner should have a ton of palm leaves tattooing its' one-sheet. I actually liked JUSTICE LEAGUE. When I first heard they cast a HAWAIIAN as AQUAMAN, I was like: "Great. Now we'll be known for aloha, shitty pizza, luau's, MOANA, and the most useless, colorblind, waste-of-space A-list superhero EVER." But, on a team comprised of SUPERMAN, BATMAN, WONDER WOMAN, and THE GODDAMN FLASH... AQUAMAN was the coolest. Cheers to you, DCEU! Saw a weird dog/action movie that was part Sandlot, part John Wick, part Amores Perros, part Reservoir Dogs that was both sappy and shoot 'em up, and I loved it. Dogs are an easy way to make me cry, but we all go a little sad sometimes. |
Jurassic Park Jurassic Park 2 Jurassic Park 3 Pyewacket Silent Hill Frasier Season 7 to 8 Steel Dawn Tomb Raider (2018) Red Dawn (1984) Red Dawn (2012) Demolition Man | OnoJust been watching Frasier, from finish to start, backwards fashion, revisiting episodes. Turns out my favorite seasons are from 8 to 11, just because Daphne and Niles are finally together. Revisited both Red Dawn films, the original is much darker, dramatic, and emotional, while the remake is dull and uninteresting. Steel Dawn showed up in my feed on Comic-Con HQ and I expected a Road Warrior type film - got that somewhat, minus the cars. I wanted to see the skin-pulling scene in Silent Hill again, but got much more than that - turns out the movie is much more dark and violent than I anticipated. Not over-the-top gory, just unexpectedly violent for a video game movie. Pyewacket and Tomb Raider are new movies that turned out to be interesting and entertaining flicks. |
Velvet Goldmine Pet 10 Things I hate about you Not without my daughter Personal Best Ghost Bride Wars Now you see me Double Jeopardy Blue Jasmine Rock Star That thing you do! Almost Famous The Shining Stand by me Prodigy Shallow Hal 4/20 Massacre | MeredithVelvet Goldmine: Phenomenal soundtrack c'mon, Jonathan Rhys Meyers in spandex! Yum. 10 Things I Hate About You - One of the best "newer" teen films and my first introduction to Heath Ledger. Not Without My Daughter - Sally Field and Alfred Molina. You can't get a better match to portray the true story of a mother struggling to escape Iran with there daughter and get back to the United States with limited help and no resources. It's heartbreaking. Personal Best - I think this was how I learned what lesbianism is. And how it feels to pee standing up. Ghost - The film is just ok. Not my favorite and not horrible. But I went out drinking with Tony Goldwyn a year later, and he was SLAMMED with nasty people yelling "You killed Patrick Swayze!" We had to leave 3 bars before finding one that he could hide in a corner and not be blamed for a movie role. LOL. Blue Jasmine - Woody Allen makes great films. That's just a fact despite what a despicable person he may be. That said, this and Point Match are my faves. Cate Blanchet is superb. Alec Baldwin, and Andrew Dice Clay - all fantastic! |

This time we look back at mutilated March. My Top 9 films that I watched are as follows in No particular order as it’s too hard to decide in some instances. I’m sure some of you will completely understand. The Lost Boys - In 1987 when I saw this in the theatre it was fucking awesome I still feel the same about it to this day. Big mistake when Vampires invade Santa Carla and meet the likes of the 80s duo of Corey Haim and Corey Feldman. “Death By Stereo” Brawl in Cellbkock 99 2017 - this film was a nice surprise with Vince Vaughn as a Convict kicking ass all day, there’s hell to pay if he gets his way. The Gates Of Hell aka City Of The Living Dead 1980 - If you kneed a great Italian Living Dead horror to watch, well Lucio Fulci has a conjuring of creepy atmosphere and brutal gory deaths to keep you asking for more. Night Of The Living Dead 1990 - Tom Savini proved here in the Director’s chair that not all remakes are shit. Best Horror remake in my opinion. Return of The Living Dead 1985 - Yes of course this is on my list, perfect blend of Zombies, Punk Rockers and more Zombies. A must watch for any Horror fan. Revenge Of The Ninja 1983 - one of the greatest Ninja films to date in my opinion with Braden one of the baddest bad black Ninjas battling it to the death against Sho Kosugi. Ninja 3:The Domination 1985 is your best bet for a Sho Kosugi film that is a great mix of Martial Arts and Horror a definite must see. Phantasm 1979-The film that spawned sequels for nearly three decades. About an Alien body snatcher, up against the only ones that know what evil is taking over the town from Morningside Cemetery. Cloak and Dagger 1984-I really Love this film written by Tom Holland, you know the awesome Director of Fright Night 1985. About a young child that gets help from his make believe Hero Jack Black while on the run from thwarting Russian spies |
Zodiac Girl on the Train (SNORE!) Sicario IT (2017) From Dusk Till Dawn Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle The Big Sick The Shape of Water Black Panther Daddy's Home 2 Unbreakable Annihilation I, Tonya The Last Jedi Happy Death Day Lady Bird | DannyAlthough I didn't get to watch a lot of movies this month, there were several enjoyable watches. Although there were several movies I had already seen, almost all the new viewings were impressive. The Big Sick, I Tonya, and Lady Bird were my favorites this month with I Tonya and Lady Bird in a brutal fist fight for my favorite (yes, even over The Shape of Water and Annihilation). Lady Bird hits on an emotional level and is a great coming of age drama with FANTASTIC acting... But I'm going with I, Tonya as the champ. Its funny, poignant, fast paced, and a lot of fun. Not to mention redeeming Tonya Harding, who became the most hated woman in the free world, by showing us that she was human and just trying to survive while being surrounded by the abdolute worse support structure a person can have. The Girl on the Train was my least favorite watch. You should never start a movie with THREE DIFFERENT melodramatic narrations going on. It started off on a frustrating, confusing, and eye-roll inducing foot and it never recovered. |
"Go. Watch. MOVIES." | OnoMy brother was in town and didn't see The Last Jedi yet, so I went a 3rd time. And we sat down to watch Blood in Blood Out cuz Vatos Locos FOREVER. The Foreigner was a disappointment. Ninja Scroll is on Hulu, can you believe that? Still the bomb. I like the action flicks so I had to revisit, Bad Boys 2,, Taken, Moon44,. Saw 3 and The blob (cuz Shawnee Smith). |
"Horror Film Fan for LIFE!" | ThomasWelcome to my Insanity of never watching enough films, this is the first time that I have shared all the films I have watched for an entire month. I look forward to sharing my reel to reel journey monthly with you all. |
"Indiana Jones meets Lucifer, American Gods, Naked Lunch & Dark City." | JesusIt is not only the personable, highly relatable principle cast which are deeply engaging to (and for the viewer), but how effortlessly they make various sciences very approachable to the general public. That and the fun, hilarious banter between all concerned. Visit the show for the historical and archaeological interest; stay for the very wonderfully filmed episodes, continue returning for the very unique characters. |
"Inspiring Madness since 1985." | DannyMr. Brooks was the real stand out for me this month. I had never seen it before and thought it took some creative risks that, for the most part, really paid off. Cloverfield Paradox and The Ritual were the biggest disappointments; I can’t remember the last time I saw a “Netflix Original” movie that didn’t disappoint. They should really start to favor quality over quantity. |
