Or what it may have been called in DEVELOPMENT HELL: “How Khaleesi got her groove back”. It’s based on a book NOT written by Nicholas Sparks, so #FUCKYEAH for that. Without spoiling crap, the plot follows a quirky, poor girl who needs money to help support her working-class family comprised of an out-of-work father, homemaker-mother, single-mother sister, and bastard-nephew. She takes a job as a caregiver to a rich, handsome quadriplegic. He’s despondent. She’s adorkable. They fall in love. Their love inspires her to grow. Blah, blah, blah. It’s a Romance. There are no action sequences, foul language, explosions, nudity, or creatures of any kind. Despite all that, it’s a more than watchable film. Emilia Clarke is awesome as “Louisa”; she resonates a vulnerable beauty and tempered passion that can’t help but endear you. The film itself steers clear of the overly-saccharine opting instead for subtle whimsy that builds toward an elegant climax. So, if you have to be dragged to a “Chick-Flick” this summer…this one won’t make you puke. Who knows? You may even like it. Romance is coming.
